How did it all begin?!

I (Maria) was walking down the street and noticed that they were opening a new yoga studio. I had just finished my training and walked in to see if the previous owner needed teachers. She (previous owner) hired me on the spot. I taught there for 2 years before the owner decided to move back to her hometown and asked me if I would like to buy the Yoga Patch. I bought it and we quickly outgrew the space. I soon found the building that we are in today and purchased it to create a wellness center.

Who founded Yoga Patch (YP)? How did they decide on Waldo?

Caren L founded Yoga Patch. Not sure on how they decided on this location, but I stayed in Waldo because I’ve lived here most of my life and a lot of our clients walk or ride their bike to the studio.

How long has Yoga Patch been open?

12 years

How has YP changed from when it first opened?

We began in a small one room space. When we moved it to this building we opened one half while we continued to work on the other side.

Future plans?

I would love to open a second location someday.

My ability to be a good listener.

What would your younger self not believe about your life today?

How did yoga come into your life?

I had a part-time marketing/digital design internship at a yoga studio. One of the perks was having free yoga classes where I found my first interest in Vinyasa yoga.

I started around 2015!

What do you do outside of the studio?

I love trying new things whether it’s food or a new hobby. I also love playing video games on my Switch and Xbox. I love a good walk outside or night-time drive. I love playing tennis, volleyball, and love a friendly competition with board games. I also own about 30ish plants and have one cute little adopted gray cat named Ophelia.

I am passionate about making yoga accessible for everyone.
