Research Finds Yoga Eases Fibromyalgia Pain

Research finds that yoga helps with the management of many emotional, psychological, and physical issues. These include ailments like anxiety, depression, PTSD, fibromyalgia...

Fibromyalgia?

Wait!

No way. Really???

Well, according to a recent study published in the peer-reviewed Journal of Pain Research, yoga helps to reduce pain associated with fibromyalgia.

Researchers from Harvard Medical School set out to discover what type of impact a regular yoga practice might have on fibromyalgia symptoms. Participants ranged in age from 18-75, each with clinically-diagnosed fibromyalgia. Participants took part in daily yoga practice for six weeks, with 36 participants completing the study. Pain was measured by daily entries to personal yoga diaries, as well as daily completion of the Brief Pain Inventory (BPI).

The team's findings?

Yoga helps to reduce symptoms associated with fibromyalgia pain.

And their conclusion gets better: According to the team's findings, not only does yoga reduce pain associated with fibromyalgia...

But there seems to be a direct correlation between further minutes practiced and further pain relief.

Yet another benefit of this wonderful thing we call "yoga." :)

I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia a few years ago, and the constant pain made everyday life feel overwhelming. When I started practicing yoga, I didn’t expect much — but over time, the gentle stretching, breathing, and mindfulness helped ease my body aches and calm my mind. It became more than just exercise; it gave me back some control over my health and well-being. Of course, flare-ups still happen, and that’s when supportive treatments can make a difference. For joint discomfort, options like https://fillersupplies.com/product-category/orthopaedics/synvisc/ are worth considering since they help protect mobility and reduce pain. Combining yoga with supportive therapies has been key in managing my fibromyalgia.
